We have the Graco Snugride car seat and matching stroller. They made it through the first child and are on to the next, though we had to upgrade to a double stroller.
I haven't had any complaints. I didn't bother getting the transitional kind since we figured we'd have more kids soon enough that we'd need the infant carrier for a new baby instead of making it a forward facing for my oldest.
Don't know if this helps.

graco is a good brand. all i know is my sister has one and it's much lighter and easier to carry than mine which is a baby trend. we don't use ours long. marce was 6 months and busting out of it when we got him a bigger toddler seat. phoenix is even bigger and were in trouble. it's nice when the stroller matches the car seat but make sure you get one that's not huge or long. graco is a good brand to look at though.

I agree on the Graco.... we have a Graco Snugride car seat with matching stroller. The carseat is relatively light, I used it for Landon until 2 weeks ago when he moved to the forward facing carseat. I didn't get a transitional one either because I figured it'd be used again for the next kid soon enough. Graco online has more patterns and models (cuter too) than the Graco ones that are offered at the stores, and they're comparable in price.

I was anti carrying baby in the car seat cause I have SUCH a bad back, I LOVE my Graco convertable car seat!!! Before I got it, I used the graco snugride (it was one of my friends!) It was super nice, I just couldn't do the car seat carry because of my back.

You're more than welcome to borrow our Graco carseat. It came with the metrolite which I love. The stroller is light (which I love) but it's still big enough to fit lots of things in. I like the big basket because you can fit lots of things in there. When BL was tiny I would just use the basket to go grocery shopping.

There are way more options now just looking at babiesRus. If there's one you seem to really like I would go to the comments on the website and see if you an live with the things that bug other people.

PS Make sure you get a carseat that you can use with just a seatbelt without the base. In case you ever have an emergency or need to ride in someone else's car.

I agree with the Graco's but watch because Amber said that their new car seats are really huge and will only fit in the middle. And make sure you get one that does not need a base. She just bought a new one that she loves http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5459215. They are out of stock online but you can get it on amazon and others~ Hope this helps!

I just looked at your blog and realized that you only have twelve days to go......yay! I hope all goes well and you get all the last minute stuff you need. You'll get the baby home and send your husband right to the store for the millions of things you didn't know you needed :) Hopefully you're more prepared than I was!!

Hey Kristen! I found your blog through Marilou's. I'm so excited for you and your new little one that will be here soon!
My advice about strollers and carseats is this: get a double stroller to begin with! You know you'll need it eventually, and babies always have so much stuff anyway so you can just put it in the extra seat. Then you won't be stuck with a stroller that's no use when you have 2 kids. I, too, am a Graco fan and have the snugride carseat which has lasted well through 2 kids, and it will fit nicely in a double stroller. Best of luck!
